The current moment is characterised by the occurrence of several transformations, at a vertiginous speed, at countless levels – environmental, technological, political, and social – with an undeniable impact on work and employment. It is against this background that the IX Ibero-American and European Congress of Labour and Social Security Law will take place, on the 8th, 9th and 10th of May of 2025.

Co-organized by the Universidad La Gran Colombia, of Bogota, and the Universidade Católica Portuguesa – Porto Law Faculty, together with the Research Centre for the Future of Law, the event will be held at the latter's premises, albeit with the possibility of online participation and attendance.

The Congress is primarily aimed at fuelling and enriching the debate on some of the most important issues raised by the torrent of transformations through which the world is going.
In these terms, the panels – encompassing oral presentations, specialized comments, and debate – address on the following topics:

  1. Trends in Labour and Social Security Reforms
  2. Psychosocial Risks and Mental Health
  3. ILO Convention 190
  4. Opportunities and Challenges of AI in the World of Work
  5. Migratory Currents: Socio-economic and Political Aspects
  6. Demographic Change and its Impact on Employability
  7. Right to Strike: A Fundamental Right in the International Context?
  8. Corporate Due Diligence in Sustainability Matters

Notwithstanding the major relevance of these issues, the IX edition of the Congress of Labour and Social Security Law, in line with its purpose of supporting scientific research, will also give the floor to presentations on other subjects located in any area of Labour and Social Security Law. Lecturers and researchers will be given the possibility of sharing the results of their studies and publication opportunities will be provided.
