Gastrodiplomacy (Seminar)

3 ECTS / Semester / Inglês
The gastrodiplomacy approach aims to introduce students to a multidisciplinary perspective that essentially combines two different realities (gastronomy and diplomacy) within a framework of international relations and international law. In fact, in this context, we are talking about a new reading of public policy, in which culture, history and sophistication are positive references that function as tools for the foreign policy of the state. To this end, the aim is for the student to understand, partly outside the law, how these elements of soft power can have a significant impact on fundamental areas of the state (such as tourism) and on the way the "other" looks at us. Thus, if there is diplomatic law, there is no less diplomatic practice, which is often decisive in facilitating results for the benefit of the state.
