Banner STEP UP Protection

The STEP UP Protection Project aims to strengthen European cooperation and communication between public and private organisations involved in the protection of posted workers’ rights.

The project develops a range of activities within the field of worker posting, seeking to enhance collaboration, promote awareness, and improve the effectiveness of rights protection mechanisms across Europe.

It also intends to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current legal frameworks governing transnational posting, the national legal regimes resulting from the transposition of Directive (EU) 2018/957, and the existing levels of knowledge and awareness among companies and workers concerning cross-border posting situations.

Focus and Objectives

With a particular focus on the metalworking sector, the project seeks to:

  • Identify the most common violations of European posting rules;
  • Develop tools and strategies to ensure an adequate level of information among workers, employers, and national labour inspectorates;
  • Promote the dissemination of information on rights and obligations in cross-border posting through diverse communication channels in all participating countries.

Geographical Scope

The StepUP Project involves five countries - Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, and Spain - selected for their geographical diversity and for representing different social systems and legal frameworks.

In each participating country, and through various media and communication platforms, the project aims to raise awareness and disseminate knowledge about rights, obligations, and best practices related to cross-border posting.
