Message from the Dean

Marta Portocarrero

The Porto Faculty of Law, Universidade Católica Portuguesa was founded on a strong commitment to academic excellence and to close, individualised support for every student who chooses to join us. From an early stage, the school established a distinctive place within legal education in Portugal. As the first Faculty of Law in Porto and in the northern region of the country, it has consistently embraced change without losing sight of its core mission.

A pioneer in the implementation of the Bologna Declaration and in the creation of a Double Degree programme, the school has continuously invested in internationalisation and in the development of innovative pedagogical approaches. Here, students learn to understand, question and apply the law with rigour, critical insight and intellectual autonomy. The results confirm this commitment: our graduates hold prominent positions in the labour market, both in Portugal and abroad.

We are therefore a well-established academic community, supported by a dedicated and scientifically qualified academic staff, for whom education is a shared responsibility and a collective commitment to high standards.

It is in this spirit that we welcome those who join us, confident that they will find in our School a demanding and stimulating learning environment, grounded in permanent dialogue and in both academic and personal growth.

More than preparing students for the practice of a profession, we seek to educate citizens who make a difference.
