Program Description

This programme is taught in Portuguese.

15th Edition 2026 | Online or On-campus

Developed in partnership with the ICFML – Institute for Certification and Training of Lusophone Mediators, this programme in Negotiation, Mediation and Conflict Resolution provides certification for practice in Justices of the Peace, Consumer Arbitration Centres, Judicial Processes and Private International Mediation.

This is the first programme officially recognised by the Portuguese Ministry of Justice granting access to the profession of mediator within public mediation systems (including Family Mediation and the Justices of the Peace), while also offering international certification by the International Mediation Institute (IMI).

The ICFML is the only institution in Portugal accredited by the CIArb – Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), which, in 2020, awarded it authorisation to deliver a 40-hour accredited mediation course.

Ana Maria Maia Gonçalves

Coordinator of the Postgraduate Programme in Negotiation, Mediation and Dispute Resolution
“The ability to negotiate and mediate effectively lies at the heart of a modern and efficient legal practice. In an interconnected, versatile, complex, uncertain and ambiguous world, the answer to the question “What does my client need?” is the guiding principle for the future of legal services.”
