This programme is taught in Portuguese.
2nd Edition | On-campus
A sound understanding of Health Law is essential not only for healthcare professionals, who may become involved in liability proceedings that could often be avoided through proper knowledge of the legal framework governing their practice, but also for lawyers and legal practitioners, given the steady increase in such cases involving doctors and other healthcare professionals in recent years.
The programme combines both traditional and innovative approaches, addressing core legal topics while creating space for discussion and analysis of emerging issues. Its structure was designed to provide postgraduate training that may, in the medium term, be complemented by shorter, more focused courses exploring each of the subjects taught in greater depth.
The teaching staff includes leading national specialists in the field, with particular emphasis on professors from Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), thereby showcasing the significant research work developed at the Porto Faculty of Law and the Institute of Health Sciences of UCP.
Programme Aims
This programme aims to offer an integrated and in-depth understanding of the key subjects within Health Law, combining a traditional and contemporary analytical perspective closely linked to real healthcare practice.
