Canon Law

5 ECTS / Semester-long / Portuguese

Learning outcomes of the curricular unit

The aim is to make Canon Law known as an autonomous discipline of an independent legal system, which, however, has a current relevance for future Portuguese jurists. Portuguese society remains largely Catholic, so that knowledge of the Catholic legal order can be an asset to those who may wish to practice forense in the ecclesiastical courts. In addition to this reality, it is a useful tool to provide future jurists with a bridge of dialogue for the operationalization and understanding of Bilateral agreements between the two States (Portugal and the Holy See). The areas of relevance will be matrimonial marriage, procedural and administrative law and the management of temporal goods.
