The Doctoral Program in Law at Católica Porto aims to train high-quality researchers, contributing to the development of research at the University, as well as to the critical and responsible construction of legal science in Portugal. This program aims for doctoral students to acquire:
- Skills, abilities, and research methods in Law
- Capacity for systematic understanding in the field of Legal science
- Ability to conceive, design, adapt, and conduct significant research while respecting the demands imposed by academic quality and integrity standards
- Skills to communicate with the scientific community and society at large about a specific area of Law.
Benefiting from the establishment of the Center for Studies and Research in Law | CEID - Católica Centro de Estudos e Investigação em Direito, doctoral students will be able to be part of the research unit at the Catholic University, aimed at innovating in legal education and encouraging a change in the traditional paradigm of legal research in Portugal. This involves promoting transnational, interdisciplinary, and team-based research, as well as strengthening the relationship between academic knowledge and the needs of society.
