Friday, May 8, 2026 - 10:12

The Porto School of the Faculty of Law of UCP (Portugal) and the Faculty of Law of the University of León (Spain) are organising the 13th Luso-Spanish Meeting of Professors of International Law and International Relations.

The 13th Meeting will take place at the Porto School of the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University on 9 and 10 October 2026, under the theme ‘International law in crisis?’.
Professors and researchers in the fields of International Law and International Relations are therefore invited to submit their proposals for papers.

Thematic Sessions

The general theme, ‘International law in crisis?’, has dominated the international scene and, furthermore, sparked a wide-ranging doctrinal debate. Accordingly, and to better organise the presentation of papers, the thematic sessions are as follows:

  1. Use of force, old and new forms of economic and political coercion;
  2. The crisis of international institutions;
  3. The right to self-determination and human rights.

A specific session for young researchers is also planned, to take place on 9 October, at the end of Thematic Session II, and will bring together accepted papers dealing with one of the three themes mentioned above.
Young researchers are defined as those enrolled in official PhD programmes at Portuguese or Spanish universities.

Proposals for papers should be submitted to one of these emails until July 24thmitavares@ucp.pt | armando.alvite@unileon.es.
