Learning outcomes of the curricular unit

The learning outcome of this curricular unit is to provide a general framework of voluntary arbitration within the Portuguese legal system and its integration in the justice system, based on the current scientific legal knowledge and arbitral practice.

Proficiency in this subject is nowadays paramount for any kind of litigation professional: lawyers and arbitrators working in arbitral proceedings and court magistrates called upon to decide judicial issues within the arbitral proceedings.

Thus, the curricular unit aims to provide students with the necessary tools to understand and cope with several substantive and processual issues pertaining to arbitration, in particular within the field of Voluntary Arbitration.
