The Porto Faculty of Law, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in partnership with ICFML – Instituto de Certificação e Formação de Mediadores Lusófonos, has launched the 5th edition of the International Negotiation and Mediation – Summer Program 2026, taking place 10–16 July 2026, in person (Porto, Portugal) and online.

This campaign was launched in the context of the 2026 International Mediation Competition, , promoted by the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution (CPR Institute) and held 5–7 March in São Paulo, Brazil. The event, marked by a high level of technical rigor, brought together students, academics, and professionals from multiple jurisdictions for an intensive experience in learning and practice in mediation and negotiation.

As a Silver Sponsor, ICFML officially took part in the competition, reaffirming its commitment to demanding, ethical, and practice-oriented training, in line with international standards of excellence in dispute resolution. This presence also reinforces the international standing of the partnership with the Porto Faculty of Law, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in developing skills that are essential for today’s legal professionals

Recognition of excellence and international reach

Within the framework of this institutional collaboration, the winners of the Best Mediator and Best Negotiator categories were awarded full scholarships to attend the Summer Program 2026, in recognition of their outstanding performance and as an incentive to continue their training path.

The scholarships were awarded at the closing ceremony by Liana Gorberg Valdetaro, ICFML representative, highlighting the significance of this international cooperation and the shared investment in training that is ethical, demanding, and grounded in practice.

In addition, all competition participants will benefit from a special discount for the Summer Program, bringing the two initiatives closer together and ensuring meaningful conditions for academic and professional development.

The International Negotiation and Mediation – Summer Program brings together participants from different countries for an intensive, practical, and multicultural training experience in strategic negotiation, conflict mediation, dispute resolution, intercultural skills and international relations.
