The Católica Research Centre for the Future of Law, a research unit of the Faculty of Law at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, has been awarded the rating of “Excellent” in the latest evaluation conducted by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

This recognition highlights the high quality of the research carried out by the Centre, the impact of its scientific work, and its significant contribution to the advancement of legal knowledge both in Portugal and internationally.

“Since its foundation in 2013, the Católica Research Centre for the Future of Law has established itself as a hub of critical thinking, scientific rigour, and academic commitment. The ‘Excellent’ rating is a well-deserved recognition of over a decade of collective effort, tireless dedication, and passion for research. This achievement belongs to all those who believed in the Centre’s mission from the very beginning,” says Sofia Oliveira Pais, director of the Centre.

The “Excellent” rating is the result of a rigorous external evaluation process, carried out by international panels of experts who assessed criteria such as scientific output, societal engagement, and research strategy.
